| Rule Set: DnD 3.5 Starting Level: 1st Races: Stick to the PHB. No Half Orc. Classes: Open to DM approval Attributes: Roll 4d6 7 times dropping the lowest die each time. Drop the lowest total. Distribute scores as you wish. Hitpoints: Brandon style. Scenario Notes: Magic items don't exist (as far as we're concerned) so don't think you'll have them for help. Magic wielders are perfectly acceptable. The remaining cities of the goodly races are sequestered inside a few 100mi radius safe zones created by mysterious orbs. Outside of the zones are untold millions of intelligent, murderous goblins who would like nothing more than your bones for their soup stock.

| Damn you! Beating me to making a thread for Brandon's game by a minute...such slim margins.
Anyways, I thought he had said last night that he wanted us to do 84 ability points?

| I thought that was for Adam's one shot. And I never heard a definite number for the attribute pool. | |

| Yeah, Logan's right. That was for my one shot. And it will be what we normally do. So, 84. But you are level 6, so the appropriate advancements apply. | |

| Ok, i'll txt Brandon, but i really thought he said we were using the 84 for his game. What are peeps thinking about rolling? I am going to try to find a druid template of some sort focused on their pet. I basically wan the char to be a buff bot with a powerful pet. I am going to look at races of the wild tonight, but any input would be sweet. | |

| I'm thinking I'll go shooty-ranger with all favored enemy slots geared toward Goblins. | |

| LOL that will be quite effective. I think I might give the Truenamer a shot. Or perhaps a dual-wielding shield master. I dunno. 1st level. I will have to look to see how difficult these will be to progress. | |

| I read through the Truenamer again. I don't think it's for me. I'm actually leaning toward Dragon Shaman. I'll have to ask Brandon how dragons are perceived in his world. Now...time to work on Deadlands. | |

| I think we all know what I will be playing.
And Zack, you should definitely look at Companion Spellbond in PHB II. It lets you share spells with your pet up to 30 feet away instead of having to be right next to them.

| First of all: Logan, BurTan and Brandon all fail on my mass text last night.
Secondly, as I stated in said text, i cannot find any form of class that uses their pet/companion as their major weapon. The closest seems to be a Druid's animal companion, but even they get a bit gimped. It baffles me that there seems to be no pet focused class in 3.5. Am i missing one?

| Hey, I would have replied but I figured it wouldn't have been appreciated at 2 AM which was when I got home You could always talk to Brandon about making up a class. | |

| Would have responded but "no" isn't a very helpful response.
I know there's a class (maybe it's a prestige class though...) that you can make a pretty destructive summoner.
Maybe go the other way around? You be the druid, eventually get Leadership and your cohort is merely a buff station for you as you parade around in animal form.

| Ok, I'm switching gears yet again. Think I want to go melee combatant now. Looking for a strong 2h combatant with some utility OR heavy in skills (sort of rogish). Saw the Marshal and was intrigued but think he may end up being really underpowered. Not interested really in a melee caster and not so much in a Barbarian. Would like this guy to basically be a seasoned war vet who is trying something different. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. | |

| Have you looked at the Scout from Complete Adventurer? Potentially hard hitting and rather skilly. | |

| The scout is an excellent class, but I highly recommend my light fighter variant if Brandon will allow it. I will e-mail you the progression Zack. | |

| I dig both the scout and the light fighter, i'll double check with Brandon to see if he cares if I run the light fighter. Haven't decided for sure, but they are about what I was looking for. | |

| So, I built a light fighter and am currently thinking about grabbing Monkey Grip and rocking a Large 2hander. It would be a -2 on atk but would give me 3d6 instead of 2d6, which would be fantastic. Thoughts? Oh, and RP wise it would be a bit unusual, being a wood elf, but not the craziest thing (i.e. a dwarf with one). | |
